This pool is probably the smallest of our monitoring pools. It is in fact just a tire rut, not more than 6 inches deep in the center, and 2 feet wide by 8 feet long. As many as 5 spotted salamander egg masses have been found in this rut with a small population faithfully returning every breeding season.
