This spotted salamander has found a new breeding pool. He was found in a pool that was constructed in October of 2003 and although the vegetation and leaf cover still need to accumulate, this salamander seems content. Next year the pool will be much more vegetated and offer quite a bit more habitat.

The USC created 11 pools in 2003, and of the 8 that have been checked this spring, 3 of them had salamanders present and in two of the three, spermatophores were also seen.
