The Northeast Wetland Restoration Institute

The 2008 Northeast Regional Wetland Restoration Institute will be held in Campbell, New York from August 11-15, 2008.  The training is designed to help engineers, biologists, foresters, hydrologists, and technicians initiate or improve a wetland restoration program.

Participants will be involved in the design and construction of three wetlands, from start to finish. Participants will investigate natural and restored wetlands and streams in forested and open areas, learn about wetland drainage from a historical perspective, and spend the majority of the workshop in the field.

Previous Wetland Restoration Institutes have been nicknamed "Wetland Boot Camp."

Applications are now being accepted and some spots are still available (7/9/08)

Some Background:

This workshop will be the first NEWRI but the Eastern Regional Wetland Restoration Institute enters its third year in 2008. The NEWRI is an effort to bring the highly successful Eastern Regional Wetland Restoration Institute's program, led by Tom Biebighauser, to an additional venue allowing more participants the opportunity to attend.
